Job Summary: Elders are responsible to provide balanced spiritual leadership and guidance to the CVAC family and support the mission of CVAC. The elders are selected by the Nominating Committee.

Ministry Responsibilities:

  • The Lead Elder shall call a monthly Elder’s meeting where the spiritual growth, and maintenance of the CVAC family, and mission are discussed, prayed for, and, if need be, bring approproiate recommendations to the church board.
  • The Lead Elder shall organize the Sabbath Worship duty schedule.
  • When scheduled for platform duty, the Elder of the day will organize people to lead out in the various elements of the worship service. In fulfilling this task the Elder of the day must be sensitive to the church calendar and season of the year.
  • Each Elder will participate as a member of the church board.
  • Each Elder should carry a short sermon in their Bible — Just in case! (See Pastor for help, if needed).
  • The Elders serving at the Communion Service will arrive at church by 8:30 AM to participate with the Deacons and Deaconesses in a Communion preparation.
  • Each Elder should be teamed up with another Elder, a Deacon, or Deaconess to form a Visitation Team.
  • Each Elder should make a point to be an encouragement to all the members, visitors, and other Church Board Members.
  • Each Elder shall participate in tithing and financial support of the church.
  • The Elders shall lead the congregation best through an example of humility and a grace giving character.
